Offline mode generates locally using regional sample data. No settings are sent to a profile service.

Regions

Select one or more. All regions are listed alphabetically.

Italy is available offline; the online provider does not support it. Regional datasets can fall back to English for some fields.

Leave blank for a fresh batch. A seed repeats data within the same source version and generation settings.

Choose your settings and generate a batch.

Your fictional profiles

No profiles generated yet.

Local avatars make no remote image requests.

Profiles are fictional sample data. Photos do not establish a person’s identity, nationality or age. Generated names, addresses and phone numbers can coincide with real ones. Offline email addresses use example.com.

Using Fake Name Generator

Build consistent fictional profiles for test fixtures, interface mockups and stories, with clear control over generation and exports.

  1. Choose Offline or Online source, count, name category, age range and regional checkboxes. Enter a seed for a reusable batch, or leave it blank for fresh data.
  2. Generate profiles, inspect their details and use search/sorting, profile-label language, local or remote avatars and compact cards. View controls do not regenerate names, jobs or companies.
  3. Choose visible profiles or the whole batch as export scope. Copy names, download a name list, or export full CSV/JSON. Reuse last seed copies the previous seed into the generation field.

Example

Generate ten offline profiles aged 25–25 with US and France selected, using seed design-demo-01. Every generated profile is exactly 25.
Search for France, choose visible profiles and export JSON. The exportedCount matches the visible results; choosing Whole batch exports the original generated order.

Questions & answers

Does this work without an external profile service?

Yes. Offline mode uses a pinned local Faker 10.6.0 dataset in a worker, with all 22 regional options and an exact requested count/age range. Nothing is sent to a profile service. The website assets must already be available; this is local generation, not a promise that the whole website works offline.

What is sent in online mode?

Online generation requests RandomUser.me API 1.4 with selected regions, male/female category and seed, over up to five pages of 200 candidates. Requests do not include age limits; filtering happens in this browser. Avoid personal information in seeds. The provider sees the request and usual connection information.

Why can online results contain fewer profiles?

The provider has no exact age-range parameter. This tool filters up to 1,000 candidates and reports a partial count when the requested range is uncommon. It validates response fields, limits response size, handles failures and supports Cancel. Offline mode produces the exact count and ages you request. Italy is available offline because the online API does not support it.

Are profiles real people or safe contacts?

These are fictional sample profiles. Generated names, addresses and phone numbers can coincide with real ones. Photos do not establish the identity, nationality or age of a generated profile. Offline email addresses use example.com; generated phones and addresses are not validated contact details.

Will a seed recreate the same profiles?

Offline generation repeats with the same seed, region selection/order, name category, age range and pinned generator version. Sorting, searching, label language and avatars do not change generated data. Online seeds use a pinned API version but provider data and age calculations can change. Blank seeds use fresh browser randomness and the used seed is shown with the batch.

Do regional names cover every culture in a country?

No. Regional samples are approximations, not population statistics or cultural identity. Some fields fall back to English when a regional dataset is incomplete. New Zealand uses English names, local city samples and generic English address patterns. Profile labels can be English, Spanish, French, German or Arabic independently of the chosen region.

How do avatars and privacy work?

Initials, emoji and robot avatars are local. Online profile photos load from RandomUser.me. Optional DiceBear and RoboHash avatars send the synthetic username to their image services. Failed images fall back to initials. Profiles, seeds and view settings are not saved between visits; Clear removes the underlying batch as well as cards.

What do CSV and JSON exports contain?

Both export name, gender, country/region code, username, email, phone, age, address, job, company and source. JSON also includes generation settings/seed/version and export scope/count. Headers are stable English keys regardless of label language. CSV quotes values and prefixes spreadsheet formula-like text with an apostrophe; JSON preserves raw text. Visible scope follows the search and sort order; Whole batch preserves generated order.
