Music Chord Chart Transposer

Transpose bracketed chord charts or chord-only lines, including slash-bass notes. Choose semitone shifts, tonic-to-tonic shifts or capo-shape conversion, then review every recognized chord.

1. Chart & direction

200,000 chart characters · 15-second worker limit. A–G roots with a single sharp/flat, common text suffixes and slash bass are recognized. Nashville numbers, Roman numerals, double accidentals, tabs and full ChordPro directives are unsupported.

2. Review chord changes

Try the sample or paste your chart.

OriginalTransposedOccurrences

This is pitch-class transposition, not diatonic score engraving. Suffix text is preserved. Enharmonic spellings may need musical review, and longer chord names can affect lyric alignment.

Transpose without replacing lyrics

  1. Use inline brackets for mixed lyrics, such as [Am]a lyric. Unsupported brackets like [Chorus] remain unchanged.
  2. For plain chord charts, use whole chord-only lines. A line containing any unsupported non-separator token is left unchanged to protect lyrics.
  3. Choose the shift, spelling and operation. Review the chord mapping and output before downloading.
  4. Save a project if you want to reopen the original chart and options later.

Root and slash-bass notes move by the same interval; extensions and chord quality are retained as text. A 12-semitone shift has the same pitch-class names and does not encode a new octave. Tonic selection calculates a chromatic interval, not major/minor mode conversion.

Capo conversion assumes standard fret semitone relationships and a chart of desired sounding chords. It does not account for alternate tunings, physical fingering constraints or transposing instruments. No chart or audio is uploaded.

Questions & answers

Does it change lyrics?

Bracket mode changes only recognized chords inside brackets. Chord-line mode transforms a line only if every non-separator token is recognized; unsupported lines remain unchanged.

Are slash chords supported?

Yes. Both root and final slash-bass notes transpose by the same chromatic interval. Chord-quality and extension suffix text is retained.

How does capo mode work?

Input is the desired sounding chord chart; output shapes are shifted downward by the capo fret. It does not choose guitar fingerings or model alternate tunings.

Will note spelling always match the musical key?

No. This is pitch-class transposition with sharp/flat preferences, not diatonic engraving. Review enharmonic spelling and visual lyric alignment.

What is unsupported?

Nashville numbers, Roman numerals, double accidentals, tablature and full ChordPro directives. Up to 200,000 characters and a 15-second worker limit are supported.
