Scope and practical limits

JSON arrays preserve empty strings and embedded newlines. Decoding checks length prefixes and commas. Up to 1,000 strings and 50,000 input characters.

The tool processes your work in the browser. The website’s advertising and analytics follow its privacy and consent settings. Projects are not saved automatically. Media workspaces export their files directly rather than storing them in project JSON.

Using Netstring Encoder & Decoder

Netstrings count UTF-8 bytes, not letters; café takes five bytes.

  1. Start with the included example, or enter your own input.
  2. Adjust the settings and review the preview and any validation message.
  3. Download the result or save a project to continue later.

Example

Encode ["café", ""] to 5:café,0:,
