Research & Citation Library
Collect your sources in one place, organise them with collections, tags and notes, find duplicates, and create a bibliography in APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE or Vancouver with one click. Import BibTeX, RIS and CSL-JSON from Google Scholar, Zotero, Mendeley or EndNote, and export them again.
Bibliography
In-text citation
Check capitalisation: titles are used exactly as you typed them. APA asks for sentence case in article and book titles.
Import
Google Scholar: click “Cite” → BibTeX. Zotero, Mendeley and EndNote can export BibTeX or RIS. Imported sources go into the open collection.
Export
Library file
Your library never leaves this device. Save the library file now and then as a backup or to move it to another computer.
How to use the research and citation library
- Add sources: click New source and fill in the fields, or import BibTeX, RIS or CSL-JSON files from Google Scholar, Zotero, Mendeley or EndNote. Pasting a list of DOIs creates entries you can complete.
- Organise: create collections for chapters or projects, add tags, star important sources and keep notes and quotes with each source. Search finds words in titles, authors, tags and notes.
- Clean up: “Possible duplicates” lists sources with the same DOI, ISBN or a near-identical title. Merge keeps the most complete record and combines tags, notes and collections.
- Cite: tick the sources you need, pick a style in Cite and copy the bibliography straight into Word or Google Docs with italics kept. The in-text citation is ready to paste too.
- Back up: autosave keeps the library in this browser. Save library downloads a file you can open later; export BibTeX for LaTeX or RIS for other reference managers.
Using Research & Citation Library
Keep all the sources for an essay, thesis or report in one library. Organise them with collections, tags, stars and notes, find and merge duplicates, and turn any selection into a correctly formatted bibliography and in-text citations in APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE or Vancouver.
- Add sources with New source, or import BibTeX, RIS or CSL-JSON files exported from Google Scholar, Zotero, Mendeley or EndNote.
- Fill in or check the fields: authors one per line as “Family, Given”, year, title, journal or publisher, pages and DOI.
- Create collections for chapters or projects, add tags and write notes and quotes for each source.
- Open Possible duplicates to merge sources that share a DOI, ISBN or title.
- Tick the sources you need, choose a style in Cite and copy the bibliography into Word or Google Docs with italics kept, plus the in-text citation.
Example
An APA 7 reference for a journal article: Santamouris, M. (2020). Urban heat islands and their mitigation in a warming climate. Nature Climate Change, 10(3), 201–207. https://doi.org/… Importing two BibTeX exports of the same paper gives a duplicate warning; Merge keeps one record with the tags and notes of both.
Questions & answers
Is this citation manager free?
Yes. It is free, needs no account and runs entirely in your browser. Your library is not uploaded anywhere.
Which citation styles are supported?
APA 7th edition, MLA 9th edition, Chicago author-date, Harvard, IEEE and Vancouver, with matching in-text citations.
Can I import from Zotero, Mendeley or Google Scholar?
Yes. Import BibTeX (.bib), RIS (.ris) or CSL-JSON files. Google Scholar’s Cite button offers BibTeX; Zotero, Mendeley and EndNote can export BibTeX or RIS.
Does it look up details from a DOI automatically?
No. Everything stays offline in your browser, so nothing is fetched from the internet. Pasting DOIs creates entries with the DOI filled in for you to complete.
How do I paste references into Word with italics?
Use “Copy for Word / Docs” in the Cite tab. It copies formatted text, so journal and book titles stay italic.
How are duplicates found?
Sources with the same DOI or ISBN, or with a nearly identical title and the same year, are grouped. Merging keeps the most complete record and combines tags, notes and collections.
Is my library saved?
Autosave keeps it in this browser. Save library downloads a file to back it up or open on another computer, and you can export BibTeX or RIS at any time.
