SSH Config Builder
Create OpenSSH host aliases from a form or JSON list with identity paths, ProxyJump aliases, strict host checks, keepalive settings and a downloadable config draft.
Settings
Try the example or enter your own settings.
This is a configuration draft, not an SSH client. It does not access keys or connect to a host. StrictHostKeyChecking stays enabled; verify host fingerprints using a trusted source before your first connection. Earlier matching options in an existing config can take precedence.
Using SSH Config Builder
Create OpenSSH host aliases from a form or JSON list with identity paths, ProxyJump aliases, strict host checks, keepalive settings and a downloadable config draft.
- Fill the single-host form or switch to a JSON array for several host aliases.
- Specify the SSH account, port, identity path and optional jump aliases. Choose the keepalive behavior.
- Generate and review the blocks. Copy them into your OpenSSH config after verifying the host identities, or download a draft for later.
Example
Try the included editable example. Specify the SSH account, port, identity path and optional jump aliases. Choose the keepalive behavior.
Questions & answers
Will it connect to my server?
No. It only generates text; private keys are never opened and nothing is installed or written to your SSH directory.
Where does the config belong?
OpenSSH normally reads your user config from ~/.ssh/config. On Windows this is commonly the .ssh/config file in your user profile. Merge the draft carefully; the download does not install it.
Can I use wildcards or commands?
This builder accepts unique literal aliases and explicit hosts. Wildcards, Match, Include, ProxyCommand and shell commands are outside its supported subset.
How do jump hosts work?
ProxyJump accepts comma-separated aliases. Define those aliases in your SSH configuration. The builder rejects self-reference but does not resolve or validate the entire jump graph.
Why is host verification strict?
Generated blocks use StrictHostKeyChecking yes and ForwardAgent no. Unknown hosts must be verified and recorded separately; the tool does not accept them automatically.
What limits apply?
Use up to 50 JSON host definitions and 250,000 input characters. Paths support a limited safe character set and forward slashes. This is not a complete ssh_config validator.
