Unicode Look-Alike & Confusable Explorer
Inspect visually similar Unicode characters, compare reference mapping fingerprints and generate Greek or Cyrillic look-alike examples. Includes code points, script labels and detailed local reports.
1. Set up your input
Uses pinned Unicode 18.0.0 confusables mappings after NFD normalization. Fingerprints are comparison aids, not safe replacements for text or a full UTS #39, IDNA or phishing verdict. Script labels cover selected common scripts and use your browser’s Unicode properties. Generation only substitutes eligible ASCII letters/digits with Greek or Cyrillic alternatives.

Using Unicode Look-Alike & Confusable Explorer
Inspect visually similar Unicode characters, compare reference mapping fingerprints and generate Greek or Cyrillic look-alike examples. Includes code points, script labels and detailed local reports.
- Paste text to inspect its visible characters, code points and available confusable mappings. An example includes Latin and Cyrillic a characters.
- Optionally enter a second string to compare mapping fingerprints. Choose Generate to try controlled look-alike examples.
- Review the character table and export text or the complete JSON audit. Never treat a matching fingerprint as proof of identical text or a trustworthy website.
Example
Uses pinned Unicode 18.0.0 confusables mappings after NFD normalization. Fingerprints are comparison aids, not safe replacements for text or a full UTS #39, IDNA or phishing verdict. Script labels cover selected common scripts and use your browser’s Unicode properties. Generation only substitutes eligible ASCII letters/digits with Greek or Cyrillic alternatives.
Questions & answers
What is a confusable character?
A character that can look similar to another, depending on the font. For example, Latin a and Cyrillic а are different code points even when their shapes resemble each other.
Which reference data is used?
The tool bundles all 6,712 source mappings from the official Unicode 18.0.0 confusables data, with its source URL, hash and Unicode license. Browser script labels may use a different Unicode version.
Does this implement all Unicode security checks?
No. It provides NFD-normalized mapping fingerprints and a selected-script character audit. It does not implement complete restriction levels, Script_Extensions, bidi skeletons, IDNA checks or URL reputation.
Can I replace my username with the fingerprint?
No. A fingerprint can change legitimate text into different scripts or sequences. Use it for comparison and inspection, not as a display normalization or guaranteed recovery of an original name.
Why does generating again change the output?
Eligible substitutions use browser randomness and your selected replacement probability. Characters with no eligible Greek or Cyrillic alternative remain unchanged.
Is my input uploaded for processing?
No processing upload is used. This tool runs in a local browser worker. Website ads and analytics follow the site privacy information.
