A SMALL TOOL FOR A REAL PROBLEM

Weighted Random Picker

Assign chances, draw with or without replacement and replay the exact sequence using a seed. Review initial odds and export every draw.

1. Set up your input

Paste or edit a TAB-separated list

Edit item labels and weights in the list, or open the advanced TAB-separated input. Labels may contain up to 200 characters. A fresh seed makes another reproducible sequence. This is a deterministic simulation for prototypes and casual choices, not security or prize allocation.

2. Review & export

Ready. Try the example to see how it works.

Using Weighted Random Picker

Assign chances, draw with or without replacement and replay the exact sequence using a seed. Review initial odds and export every draw.

  1. Start with the working example to explore the workflow, or add your own inputs.
  2. Choose the options, build a preview and review the result table and notes.
  3. Copy or download the output. When inputs change, build a fresh preview before exporting.

Example

Use TAB between each label and weight; copy the example for the format. A fresh seed makes another reproducible sequence. This is a deterministic simulation for prototypes and casual choices, not security or prize allocation.

Questions & answers

What does a weight mean?

It is relative to the sum of active weights. A weight of 5 out of 100 gives a 5% initial chance. Weights need not total 100.

Can I replay a sequence?

Yes. Keep item order, weights, draw mode, count and seed the same. The exported JSON records the algorithm version and inputs.

How does without replacement work?

A picked item is removed from later draws, so remaining probabilities change. Draw count cannot exceed the number of positive-weight items.

Can I disable an item?

Set its weight to zero. It remains in the odds table but cannot be drawn.

Why do observed counts differ from the odds?

Random draws vary, especially in small samples. Initial probabilities are not a promise about the counts in one run.

Is it secure enough for valuable prizes?

No. The seeded generator is predictable and meant for simulations or casual decisions. Use an appropriate independently audited system for security-sensitive or regulated uses.

Is my input uploaded for processing?

Processing runs in a local browser worker with no input upload and no account. Website advertising and analytics are described in the privacy information.
