Rates By Exchange Rate API. The open endpoint updates once daily. Results are indicative reference conversions, excluding bank spreads, transfer fees and taxes. They are not transaction quotes.

Only public exchange rates are cached in your browser. Amounts and results are not saved. A first visit and refresh require internet; a dated cached snapshot can be used for up to seven days.

Use a dated daily reference snapshot to compare currencies without making a new rate request for every amount or pair.

Swap currencies, enable additional comparisons or use target-amount mode to calculate the source amount required.
Read the provider update date and cache status. Copy or download the conversion; refresh when needed.

Questions & answers

Are these real-time transaction quotes?

No. The open ExchangeRate-API endpoint updates once daily. Reference conversions exclude bank spreads, fees and taxes; a bank or transfer service can quote a different amount.

Can the converter work offline?

If a valid reference snapshot is cached, it can be used for up to seven days and is clearly dated. Snapshots older than 48 hours are marked stale. A first visit or refresh requires internet.

What happens when the provider is unavailable?

Requests have a ten-second deadline and do not retry endlessly. Existing valid cached data can remain available. Without rates, result exports stay disabled. Refresh attempts are spaced by at least one minute.

Are amounts sent to the provider?

No. The browser requests only the public USD rate snapshot and calculates cross-rates locally. Only public rates are cached, not entered amounts or results.
