Fabric Cut Layout Planner
Arrange rectangular fabric pieces on fixed-size sheets or roll-length sections. Control rotation per piece, allow cutting gaps and export an inspectable cut plan.
1. Fabric & pieces
Dimensions include your seam allowances. Changing unit re-labels all numbers; it does not convert them. Grain direction runs along sheet length. Disable rotation to keep each piece length parallel to it.
60 types · 150 total copies · at most 30 sheets. Rectangles only; no curved patterns, mirrored pairs, selvage matching or seam allowance calculation.
2. Review the cut plan
Add your pieces or try the sample.
Area-first guillotine packing is a heuristic, not an optimal nesting solution. The layout is for planning. Check fabric grain, print direction, allowances and actual measurements before cutting.
How to plan your fabric cuts
- Set material width, a fixed section length, margin and gap in one unit. For a roll, each sheet represents another equal-length section.
- Add rectangular pieces with final cut dimensions and quantities. Enable 90° rotation only when grain and print direction allow it.
- Arrange, inspect every sheet and check the unplaced list. Try another material length or piece orientation to compare results.
- Export actual-size vector geometry or a cut list, or save the project for later. Printed plan HTML is fit-to-page overview, not a full-size sewing pattern.
Gap is spacing between placed rectangles, not a cut inside the piece. Utilization is placed piece area divided by full used-sheet area, including margins; the remainder includes gaps, margins and unfilled space. The algorithm does not minimize material length or claim a guaranteed best result.

Using Fabric Cut Layout Planner
Arrange rectangular cut pieces on equal fabric sheets while keeping explicit rotation constraints.
- Set sheet dimensions, units, edge margin and gap.
- Add pieces with final cut sizes, copies and rotation permission.
- Arrange and review every sheet and unplaced item before exporting.
Example
The sample lays out cushion faces, bag panels and pockets on 140 × 200 cm fabric sections.
Questions & answers
Is this an optimal nesting tool?
No. Area-first guillotine placement is a fast heuristic. It does not guarantee the smallest sheet count or minimum waste.
How is fabric grain handled?
Piece length is parallel to sheet length unless you allow 90° rotation for that piece type. Printed motifs, mirrored pairs and curved patterns are not modeled.
Does it add seam allowances?
No. Enter final cut dimensions including any required allowances. Gap is spacing outside the rectangles.
What can I export?
A selected sheet as real-unit SVG, all placements as CSV, a printable overview HTML and a reusable JSON project. Print overviews are not full-size sewing patterns.
What are the limits?
Up to 60 types, 150 total copies and 30 equal sheets. Dimensions are bounded to 10,000 mm equivalent. Changing the unit relabels values, so enter all numbers consistently.
