Open an image

Still images only. FLIF: 8 MiB, 8-bit samples. Other images: 20 MiB. 1 million pixels and 2,048 pixels per edge.

Open a file or try the example.

FLIF export is decoded again and checked for exact visible RGB and alpha. Hidden RGB under zero alpha may change. Canvas decoding can normalize transparent RGB and color profiles before export. Metadata and animation are not retained. FLIF is a legacy format; use PNG for broad compatibility.

Using FLIF Image Converter

Read supported still 8-bit FLIF files or create verified lossless FLIF from decoded image pixels.

  1. Open a supported FLIF, PNG, JPG or WebP, or try the example.
  2. Choose FLIF for verified RGBA8 lossless encoding, or a common image format.
  3. Download the converted image.

Example

Try the transparency example, export FLIF and reopen it to compare pixels.

Questions & answers

What does lossless mean here?

Every FLIF export is decoded again and verified against the RGBA8 pixels sent to the encoder. Source metadata, profiles and original container bytes are not preserved.

Can I convert animated FLIF?

No. This workflow rejects animations rather than silently dropping their frames.

Will FLIF open in normal browsers?

Generally no. PNG is the more compatible sharing format.
