How to make a GIF
- Add images: choose files, drop them on the maker or paste an image. Numbered names such as frame-1, frame-2… frame-10 are sorted in the right order, and GIF files are added frame by frame.
- Order them: drag frames in the timeline, or use Sort by name, Sort by date or Reverse order in the Frames tab. Click, Shift-click and Ctrl-click to select frames.
- Set the timing: give every frame the same duration (or frames per second), then select single frames to hold them longer. Add crossfades for smooth slideshow transitions.
- Size and style: in Canvas choose the size, how images fit (fit inside, fill and crop, stretch or original size), crop, rotate, and what happens to transparency. Add captions in Text, colour changes in Adjust, and touch-ups in Draw.
- Export a GIF, animated PNG, PNG frames (ZIP with timing), the current frame or a sprite sheet. Undo and redo work for every step.
Quality, transparency and timing
- Each frame gets its own 256-colour palette. Frames that use 256 colours or fewer (pixel art, logos, screenshots, flat illustrations) are saved with their exact colours; photo-like frames are reduced to 256 colours, with optional dithering. The export tells you how many frames were reduced.
- Changing the canvas size re-fits every picture from your original image, so nothing is resized twice.
- GIF transparency is on or off per pixel. Choose “Blend soft edges onto a colour” to avoid jagged edges on a known background, or export APNG/PNG to keep soft transparency.
- GIF timing uses 10 ms steps. Browsers play frames of 10 ms or less at about 100 ms, so use 20 ms (50 fps) or longer.

Limits and notes
- Up to 1,000 frames, 4,096 px per side and 80 million frame pixels in total (frames × width × height). Large images start on a 1,024 px canvas; you can choose a larger size.
- Animated WebP and APNG files are added as their first frame; GIF files are added frame by frame.
- Text uses fonts installed on your device. Drawing works when the canvas is not rotated or flipped.
- Many large frames need a lot of memory and may be slow on phones.
Using GIF Maker
Turn images into an animated GIF in your browser: add pictures, put them in order, set the timing, add crossfades or text, and export a high-quality GIF, animated PNG or PNG frames.
- Add PNG, JPEG, WebP, BMP, SVG or GIF files by choosing, dropping or pasting them. Numbered file names are sorted in order automatically and GIFs are added frame by frame.
- Drag frames in the timeline to reorder them, or use Sort by name, Sort by date or Reverse order. Set one duration (or frames per second) for all frames, then select frames to hold them longer.
- In Canvas choose the size and how images fit; images are re-fitted from the originals so they are never resized twice. Add crossfades, captions, colour changes or touch-ups if you like.
- Export a GIF, animated PNG, PNG frames as a ZIP with timing, the current frame or a sprite sheet. The export panel says which frames kept their exact colours.
Example
Drop frame-1.png to frame-12.png, set 10 fps, hold the last frame for 1 second, choose Width 480 in Canvas and export: flat-colour frames are saved with their exact colours and transparent areas stay transparent.
Questions & answers
How good is the GIF quality?
Every frame gets its own 256-colour palette. Frames with 256 colours or fewer (pixel art, logos, screenshots, flat illustrations) are saved exactly. Photo-like frames are reduced to 256 colours with optional dithering, and the export tells you how many frames were reduced. For full colour, export an animated PNG or PNG frames.
Does it keep transparency?
Yes. GIF pixels are either visible or transparent, so soft edges are cut unless you choose to blend them onto a background colour. Animated PNG and PNG frame exports keep soft transparency.
How do I control the timing?
Set one duration or frames-per-second value for all frames, then select single frames to give them their own duration. GIF timing uses 10 ms steps and browsers play frames of 10 ms or less at about 100 ms, so use 20 ms or more.
In what order are images added?
Files are sorted by name with numbers in natural order (2 before 10). You can drag frames, sort by name or date, or reverse the order at any time.
What are the limits?
Up to 1,000 frames, 4,096 px per side and 80 million frame pixels in total. Animated WebP and APNG files are added as their first frame.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
