Text Shannon Entropy Analyzer
Inspect empirical token frequencies and zero-order Shannon entropy for graphemes, words or UTF-8 bytes.
Ready. Explore the example or use the input controls to begin.
Scope and practical limits
Up to 20,000 input UTF-16 units. Empirical frequency model only; not password strength, cryptographic entropy or a compression guarantee. Word segmentation depends on browser language data.

Using Text Shannon Entropy Analyzer
Inspect empirical token frequencies and zero-order Shannon entropy for graphemes, words or UTF-8 bytes.
- Load the example or enter text. Choose segmentation and transformation rules explicitly.
- Inspect output and original-position or frequency audits. Review any formatting changes or limitations.
- Copy or download text and audit data; save a project to retain editable input and settings.
Example
Equal frequencies of a and b give one bit per token; one repeated symbol gives zero.
Questions & answers
Which limits and conventions apply?
Up to 20,000 input UTF-16 units. Empirical frequency model only; not password strength, cryptographic entropy or a compression guarantee. Word segmentation depends on browser language data.
Can the output differ between browsers?
Language segmentation and grapheme boundaries use the browser Intl.Segmenter implementation. Use the same browser/version when you need reproducible segmentation. Visual glyph width depends on fonts.
Is my work saved automatically?
No. Save a project or download your result before leaving. Processing is local; site ads and analytics follow the website consent and privacy settings.
