Conservative estimate: each wall receives separate rolls, without sharing offcuts or subtracting doors/windows. Straight match reserves one repeat per roll for initial alignment. Drop-match patterns, murals and A/B sets require the manufacturer’s layout.

Using Wallpaper Roll Calculator
Estimate wallpaper rolls by counting full-height strips across multiple walls, including straight pattern repeats, trimming, spare rolls and an optional cost estimate.
- Enter each wall’s width and height, using one consistent unit. The Add wall form can build the list for you.
- Set the product’s roll width and length. Choose free or straight match, then enter trimming and any pattern repeat.
- Review strips and rolls for each wall. Add spare rolls or a price, then export the estimate and check it against the supplier’s instructions.
Example
Try the included editable example. Set the product’s roll width and length. Choose free or straight match, then enter trimming and any pattern repeat.
Questions & answers
Why count strips instead of area?
Wallpaper hangs in full-height drops. A roll can have enough total area but insufficient length for the final strip. This estimate counts whole strips and rolls instead.
How is straight match handled?
Strip length including trim rounds up to a multiple of the pattern repeat. One repeat is reserved from each roll for starting alignment. This is a conservative allowance, not a cutting layout.
What about doors and windows?
They are not subtracted. Openings do not always eliminate full strips, and their offcuts may not fit elsewhere. This keeps the result conservative.
Are offcuts shared between walls?
No. Rolls are allocated separately per wall. An installer may reduce waste by planning cuts across walls, particularly where their heights match.
Can I use half-drop patterns or murals?
This calculator supports free and straight match only. Offset, half-drop, murals and coordinated A/B rolls need the product’s specific layout and quantities.
What do spare rolls and cost mean?
Spare rolls are added after the wall estimates. Optional cost is the total roll count multiplied by your price, excluding paste, delivery and labor. All calculations run locally.
