Word Document Builder

Turn your notes into an editable Word document. Start with a template, write headings, lists and tables, choose a page style and download a .docx file.

Edit the example or choose a template, then download your document.

Write your document

Use #, ## or ### for headings, - for bullets and 1. for numbered items. Separate paragraphs with a blank line. Use | Cell | Cell | rows for simple tables; type ---page--- on its own line for a page break. Other Markdown syntax is kept as text.

Page and text style

Save and reuse

Browser saving is off. Download a draft to keep it.

Document preview

Approximate reading preview. Word and LibreOffice control final pagination and font availability. Page-number fields update in your document editor.

Page-break markers show where a new page starts. This preview does not calculate page counts.

Up to 50,000 body characters and 500 blocks. Tables support up to 8 columns and 50 rows each, with the first row used as a header. Literal pipes inside table cells are unsupported. This creates new documents; it does not import or edit existing .docx files, add images, or apply rich inline formatting.

Documents are generated in your browser using the locally hosted docx library. Browser drafts are saved only when you enable saving. Public pages include third-party advertising; read our privacy information. This independent tool is not affiliated with Microsoft.

Using Word Document Builder

Build a new editable Word document from your own text, using templates and a local browser generator.

  1. Choose a template and click Replace with template, or start with a blank document. Replace all example names, dates and details.
  2. Edit the title and body. Use headings, lists, simple tables and page breaks, then choose font, paper, margins and heading color.
  3. Download the Word document and check its final layout in Word or LibreOffice. Save a draft JSON to continue editing here later.

Example

The project-report template includes three progress bullets, a Before/After results table and three numbered next steps.
Insert a page break to start a new section in the exported document. The preview shows a marker rather than calculated pages.

Questions & answers

Can I edit an existing Word file?

No. This tool creates new documents from entered text. It opens its own draft JSON files, not existing DOCX documents.

What formatting is supported?

Titles, subtitles, three heading levels, bullet and numbered items, paragraphs, simple tables and explicit page breaks. Use the syntax shown below the editor. Other Markdown syntax remains literal text; images and rich inline formatting are not supported.

Will the preview match Word exactly?

The preview shows structure and styling, not exact pagination. Font availability and the document editor can change line wrapping and page breaks. Page numbers are fields updated by the editor.

Is my content uploaded?

Document generation runs in your browser using the locally hosted docx library. Public pages include third-party advertising as explained in the privacy policy.

How do I keep a draft?

Download draft JSON and reopen it here later. Browser saving is optional and off initially; enabling it stores a draft on this browser. Delete it when using a shared computer.

What limits apply?

Up to 50,000 body characters and 500 document blocks. Each table supports at most 8 columns and 50 rows, with equal column counts and a header in its first row. Draft imports must be at most 1 MiB. Exports have a 20-second timeout.

Do I need Microsoft Word to use this?

No. The tool runs in a modern browser. Downloaded DOCX files can be opened in compatible document editors such as Word or LibreOffice. This tool is independent and is not affiliated with Microsoft.
