Image Kaleidoscope Maker
Explore a photo, illustration or texture as repeating radial artwork. Choose the source position, mirror sectors and rotate the pattern, then export a square image.
1. Source & pattern
No image loaded. Choose a file or try the example.
Click the source image to move the sample center, or enter X and Y below.
Choose an image to begin.
2. Preview & download
No current pattern. Update the preview.
Preview renders at 512 × 512 using a smaller working source. Downloads regenerate at your selected size with the original decoded source. PNG keeps transparency when selected; JPG uses the background color.
Settings JSON records your choices and source dimensions. It does not include the source image or import a project.
Decoded sources: up to 16 million pixels and 16,000 pixels per edge. Output: 256–2,400 square pixels. Higher zoom samples a smaller source area; lower zoom or an edge sample may leave blank areas. This repeats existing image detail, rather than generating new artwork. No processing upload or saved image history. Website ads and analytics follow the privacy information.
Using Image Kaleidoscope Maker
Make repeating radial artwork from a local photo or illustration with a live working preview and full-size image exports.
- Open a JPG, PNG or WebP, or try the built-in colorful example.
- Choose an even number of sectors. Click the source to move the sample center, then adjust zoom, rotation and mirroring.
- Choose the output size and background. Download PNG for optional transparency or JPG with a solid matte.
Example
Try 12 mirrored sectors, zoom 1.5 and rotation 15 degrees. Move the sample center to different details in your photo to find another pattern.
Questions & answers
What does the kaleidoscope effect do?
It repeats a wedge sampled from your source around the center of a square image. Alternating mirrored sectors create reflected radial patterns. Turning mirroring off repeats the wedge by rotation.
Why are some areas blank?
The sample center or zoom can map part of the output beyond the source. Move X/Y toward the center or increase zoom. Blank areas use transparency or the selected background color.
Does preview quality match the download?
The preview is 512 square pixels and uses a source reduced to at most 960 pixels along its longest edge. A download regenerates the pattern at your selected size using the original decoded source. Fine detail can therefore differ.
What are the image limits?
JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MiB, 16 million decoded pixels and 16,000 pixels per edge. The square output size is 256–2,400 pixels. Use an even sector count from 2–32.
Can I export a transparent image?
Choose transparent areas and download PNG. Source transparency is also preserved in that mode. JPG cannot store transparency and uses the chosen background color.
What does the settings file include?
JSON records pattern choices and source dimensions. It does not contain the source image and cannot be imported as a project in this tool. Keep your image separately if you want to recreate it.
Is my image uploaded?
Pattern processing runs locally in your browser without a processing upload or saved image history. Website ads and analytics follow the privacy information.
