Using 3D Model Viewer & Conversion Workbench

Open local GLB, glTF, OBJ or STL models in an interactive 3D workspace. Inspect meshes and dimensions, adjust transforms and materials, measure distances, capture renders and export supported model formats.

  1. Try a sample model or open a GLB, STL or OBJ. For glTF/OBJ assets, select the model and its local BIN, MTL and image files together; folder input preserves nested paths.
  2. Orbit with a drag, zoom with the wheel and pan with right-drag. Select a mesh to inspect or edit it. Use view presets, material controls and two-point measurement.
  3. Check format-specific conversion notes before exporting. Save a project ZIP to preserve the supported model and viewer settings, or capture a PNG render.

Example

Try the robot sample. Select its head, change its color, rotate the whole model, switch to a front view and capture a transparent render. Compare GLB with STL export warnings.

Questions & answers

Which 3D formats are supported?

GLB and glTF 2.0, OBJ with an optional local MTL and supported textures, and binary or ASCII STL. Uncompressed assets are supported. Draco, Meshopt, Basis/KTX2 and instanced mesh extensions are not included.

Are model files uploaded?

The viewer reads and processes your files locally. Remote model asset URLs are blocked. Site advertising and analytics follow the privacy policy.

What survives conversion?

GLB preserves supported geometry, hierarchy, materials, textures and imported animations. OBJ output is static geometry, UVs and normals without an MTL. STL contains triangle surfaces only; it does not store materials, textures or units. Each export shows these limitations.

Can I edit an animated character?

Supported glTF animations can be previewed and exported as GLB. Editing a transform pauses playback. Static OBJ/STL exports use base geometry for skinned and morph-target meshes, not the displayed animated pose.

How do measurements work?

Enable Measure and click two visible model surfaces. Distance uses model coordinates after current transforms. Select the source unit yourself; STL and many other models do not define reliable physical units. This is not a manifold or printability certification.

Can I save my workspace?

Download a project ZIP containing a GLB and viewer settings. It preserves supported model edits and imported animation clips. Open that ZIP to continue. The original source files are not included.

What does normal repair do?

Recalculate normals changes surface shading on the selected mesh. Flip normals also reverses triangle winding on static meshes. These are basic geometry operations; they do not repair holes or prove a model is watertight.

What are the limits?

Up to 500 meshes and two million vertices or triangles. Input files must be at most 50 MiB each and total at most 100 MiB. WebGL2 and sufficient device memory are required. Large textures can still exceed browser/GPU limits.
