Private: your chart is saved in this browser and in files you download. Nothing is uploaded.
Using Org Chart & Family Tree Maker
A free chart maker for company org charts and family trees that lays everything out automatically. Build an organisation chart with names, titles, departments and photos, drag people to new managers and collapse whole teams, or switch to family-tree mode to record parents, partners, children and siblings and view descendants or a pedigree of ancestors. Import employee CSVs, indented lists or GEDCOM files and export PNG, SVG, PDF, CSV or GEDCOM.
- Choose Org chart or Family tree at the top; a sample is loaded so you can explore, or use Data › New blank to start your own.
- Click a card to edit it in the panel; press Tab to add a report or child and Enter to add a peer or sibling, and use the arrow keys to move between people.
- In an org chart, drag a card onto another card to change who it reports to, and click the round button under a manager to collapse or expand the team.
- In a family tree, add parents, partners, children and siblings from the Edit panel, and switch between descendants and an ancestors pedigree in Style.
- Pick a theme, layout direction and card width in Style, then Export a PNG, SVG or PDF, and save the project, CSV or GEDCOM in Data.
Example
Paste an indented list of 40 employees, turn on Compact mode so teams without reports stack vertically, colour by department and export an A3 PDF for the office wall. Open a GEDCOM exported from Ancestry, start the tree from a great-grandfather, collapse branches you don't need and download a PNG to share with relatives.
Questions & answers
Is this org chart maker free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no limit on the number of people and no watermark on PNG, SVG or PDF exports.
Can I make an org chart from Excel or CSV?
Yes. Save your sheet as CSV with columns such as Name, Title, Department and Manager (by name or employee ID). Managers that can't be found are placed at the top level so nothing is lost.
Can I open GEDCOM files?
Yes. GEDCOM 5.5 files from Ancestry, MyHeritage, FamilySearch, Gramps and most genealogy programs open with names, sex, birth and death dates, places, notes and family links, and you can export your tree back to GEDCOM.
How do I change someone's manager?
Drag their card onto the new manager's card, or choose a person in the Reports to list in the Edit panel. Moves that would create a loop are blocked.
Can it show ancestors and descendants?
Yes. The family tree shows all descendants of the person you choose, and the ancestors view shows a pedigree chart of parents, grandparents and earlier generations, above or left to right.
Where is my chart saved?
In this browser automatically. Save a project file to back it up or move it to another device; nothing is uploaded.
Are photos supported?
Yes. Add a photo to any person; it is resized to a small image stored with the chart and included in exports.
