Questions & answers
How is pi calculated?
A Machin arctangent formula is evaluated with BigInt fixed-point arithmetic and 25 extra guard digits. The final output is truncated to the requested number of decimal places.
Does it download a table of pi digits?
No. It calculates the requested digits in a local worker. Up to 10,000 decimal digits are supported.
Are search positions zero-based?
No. Position 1 is the first digit after the decimal point. The integer digit 3 is excluded from searching and digit-frequency counts.
What if my pattern is not found?
It was not found in the calculated prefix. That does not prove it never appears later in pi.
Can I cancel a long calculation?
Yes. Cancel terminates the worker. Changing settings invalidates the previous result and exports.
Is my input uploaded for processing?
No processing upload is used. This tool runs in a local browser worker. Website ads and analytics follow the site privacy information.
