SVG Optimizer
Make logos, icons and vector artwork lighter. Edit the source, compare the original and optimized artwork, and download the SVG that fits your website.
Up to 10 self-contained SVGs, 2 MiB each and 8 MiB total. UTF-8 source files. Scripts, HTML, external resources and circular references are unsupported.
Open SVG files, paste source or try the example.
Source & settings
No SVG source yet.
Balanced optimizes numbers, paths and colors while keeping IDs, titles, descriptions and viewBox. Compare fine curves at their intended size.
Gentle supports animated SVGs and avoids geometric changes. Strong can change paths, groups and styles; check how it works when embedded in your website.
Compare & export
No optimized results.
Optimize your source to see validated previews.

Optimized
Previews use isolated SVG images, never inline markup in this page. Text appearance depends on local fonts. Compare the download in its intended website context; smaller output is not guaranteed.
Using SVG Optimizer
Reduce SVG source size locally, compare the artwork and keep the output your website needs.
- Open up to 10 UTF-8 SVGs or paste source. Each SVG can be up to 2 MiB, with 8 MiB total source. Choose the selected file to inspect or edit it.
- Use Balanced for general icons, Gentle for animations or structure-sensitive artwork, and Strong for more rewriting. Keep IDs if external CSS or JavaScript depends on them.
- Optimize the files, compare original and optimized previews, and review exact UTF-8 byte sizes and any notices. Preview background and zoom do not change the output.
- Copy or download the selected optimized SVG. For a batch, download the ZIP and JSON size report; failed files have explicit errors and are excluded from the ZIP.
Example
An SVG has 2,000 UTF-8 bytes before optimization and 1,500 bytes after it. The result saves 500 bytes, or 25%. Already optimized or indented output can instead be larger.
Questions & answers
Are my SVG files uploaded?
No. Reading, optimization, preview and ZIP creation run locally in your browser using libraries served by this website. SVG content is not sent to the server.
Will my SVG still scale?
The tool preserves viewBox in every profile. Remove fixed dimensions is optional and requires an existing viewBox; it removes width and height so your website can set the display size.
What happens to titles, descriptions and IDs?
Titles and descriptions are preserved. Keep element IDs is enabled by default. Turning it off in Balanced or Strong can shorten or remove IDs, so check external CSS, JavaScript and inline SVG references.
Which optimization profile should I use?
Balanced rewrites numbers, paths and colors while avoiding some structural changes. Gentle focuses on formatting and selected metadata cleanup without geometric rewriting. Strong can combine groups, paths and styles; compare it in the intended website context.
Can I optimize animated SVGs?
Use Gentle mode for SVGs containing SMIL animation or CSS keyframes. It preserves the artwork structure. The preview is an SVG image and animation phases may differ, so verify timing and behavior in your intended environment.
Why are some SVGs rejected?
The tool accepts self-contained artwork. Scripts, event handlers, embedded HTML, external resources or font rules, XML entity declarations and circular or excessive references are unsupported. Embedded PNG, JPG and WebP images must stay within the documented size and pixel limits.
Does every SVG become smaller?
No. Some source is already compact. Readable output, namespace fixes or certain rewrites can increase its size. The tool shows actual UTF-8 bytes and exports the result you reviewed; it does not claim a guaranteed saving.
Why can text or CSS look different?
Text uses fonts available on your device. More aggressive optimization can change paths, groups and styles, and external website styles are not part of this local preview. Keep IDs and test the SVG where it will be used.
What is included in the ZIP and report?
The ZIP contains successful optimized SVGs with unique filenames and optimization-report.json. The report records source/output filenames, exact UTF-8 sizes, settings, notices and failed-file errors. UTF-8 BOMs are removed when opening source files.
What limits apply?
Use up to 10 SVGs, 2 MiB each and 8 MiB total. Validation bounds nodes, nesting and reused artwork. Embedded raster images are limited to 2 MiB, 16 million pixels and 8,192 pixels per edge. ZIP output is limited to 25 MiB.
