One standard word equals five character groups, including spaces. Correct WPM uses matching groups at their expected positions. Accuracy measures the current text after corrections. It is not a cumulative keystroke-error score or a certified assessment.

    Questions & answers

    How is WPM calculated?

One standard word is five Unicode character groups, including spaces. Correct WPM counts groups matching their expected positions divided by five and elapsed minutes. Gross WPM uses all currently typed groups. Sessions under one second do not report WPM.

    What does accuracy measure?

Matching groups divided by all groups currently in the typing area. Corrections can improve it; deleted characters are not counted as historical errors. It is a current-text positional score, not a cumulative keystroke metric.

Why do many characters turn wrong after a missed space?

Comparison is positional. Missing or extra characters shift later positions until you correct them. The error review shows expected and typed groups at those positions.

When does the clock start and finish?

Prepare arms the test; the first input or IME composition starts it. Timed tests finish at 15,30,60 or 120 seconds, or early when the complete target matches. Full-passage mode requires an exact match or manual Finish.

    Can I paste the answer?

Paste and drop into the typing area are disabled as a practice aid. This is not an anti-cheat system, certified assessment or competitive leaderboard. Device input suggestions may affect results.

    Can I use another language?

Yes, paste your own Unicode passage in settings. Browser character-group segmentation is used when available, otherwise code points. Input composition is supported. Fonts, keyboard and language input behavior can affect the comparison.

What happens in a background tab?

The timer uses monotonic elapsed page time and catches up when the page runs again. Browser suspension can delay the on-screen finish. Closing or refreshing clears the session. Settings remain locked until Reset or completion.

Are practice results saved or uploaded?

No processing upload or stored score history is used. Results remain in page memory. JSON includes the target and your typed text; TXT contains a score summary. Website ads and analytics follow the privacy information.

How much text can I use?

5–2,000 character groups and 10,000 UTF-16 text units. Timed repeats append whole passages up to 2,000 groups. A fast typist may complete that target before the selected time; completion ends the test early.
