How to prepare a web font

  1. Open a font you are licensed to use. WOFF2 is decoded locally when necessary.
  2. Choose the output. Keep the entire font for complex scripts, advanced typography or variable axes. Basic subsetting is an optional feature for static TrueType Latin text.
  3. Confirm permission and create the font. Compare the real output preview, then download the font or its CSS/report pack.

Files are processed in this browser. The sample uses the existing Liberation Sans font and its included license. No automatic upload or project storage occurs.

Using Web Font Converter & Subsetter

Convert complete fonts or create a basic Latin subset using a local worker and verified WOFF2 encoding.

  1. Open a font you have permission to use, or try the Liberation Sans sample.
  2. Choose WOFF2, WOFF or the original outline format. Optional basic subsetting supports static TrueType Latin/IPA glyphs; keep complete fonts for advanced typography.
  3. Confirm permission, create the output and compare its real preview. Download the font, CSS pack or JSON report.

Example

Try the sample, select only Hello World 123!, then compare output size and glyph count.

Questions & answers

Does the subset actually reduce the font file?

Yes. It writes a binary static TrueType subset, then encodes the selected container. It is different from CSS unicode-range, which does not shrink a file.

Can I subset complex scripts or variable fonts?

This basic subsetter supports static TrueType Latin/IPA characters only. It drops advanced shaping/kerning data. Whole-font conversion supports more font types and retains supported SFNT table data. No static variable-font instance is generated.

Are fonts uploaded?

Processing runs in your browser using a local worker and locally hosted libraries. Website ads and analytics are described in the privacy policy.

Are there limits?

8 MiB input, 32 MiB expanded font/output, 4000 subset characters and a 60-second worker deadline. Restricted embedding/no-subsetting flags are enforced, with explicit license confirmation.
