Color family
Blue & blue-green colors
From deep teal to bright turquoise and royal blue
Working with blue & blue-green colors
This family crosses both hue and lightness: teal is dark and blue-green, turquoise is much brighter, and royal blue shifts toward violet. They are not interchangeable background colors. The Smithsonian explains that blue in natural objects can result from pigments or microscopic structures.
Use teal for a deep surface, turquoise for small lit details and royal blue for an independent accent. Test labels on each color rather than assigning the same foreground to the whole family.
Families are editorial groupings, not strict hue boundaries. Teal and turquoise sit in blue-green territory; a different project may group them with greens.

A color name is a starting point
Digital codes describe sRGB colors. Natural objects, paint, ink and screens can look different under different lighting or calibration. Visual references illustrate color families rather than exact measured matches. Placeholder illustrations are clearly labeled. Design ideas are suggestions, not universal claims about emotion or culture.
