This estimates weight, not postage. Carrier divisors, thresholds and rounding vary by service and contract. For inches/pounds, enter an appropriate in³/lb divisor rather than the metric default.

Using Dimensional Weight Calculator

Compare actual and volumetric shipping weight for one or many packages, with custom divisors, rounding, quantity totals and exportable results.

  1. Enter a package row with six comma-separated values, or try the editable example. Use the same units for all rows.
  2. Choose units and enter the divisor, rounding and volume threshold from your shipping service. The defaults are illustrative, not a carrier quote.
  3. Calculate to compare actual and dimensional weight. Review per-package and shipment totals, then export the table or detailed report.

Example

Try the included editable example.
Choose units and enter the divisor, rounding and volume threshold from your shipping service. The defaults are illustrative, not a carrier quote.

Questions & answers

What is dimensional weight?

It represents the space a package occupies: length × width × height divided by the service’s DIM divisor. Billing commonly uses the greater of actual and dimensional weight.

Does this give a shipping price?

No. It estimates billable weight under your assumptions. Zones, surcharges, minimum charges and carrier-specific exceptions are not included.

Which divisor should I use?

Read the current terms for your service and contract. The metric example uses 5000 cm³/kg only as an illustration. Changing units does not change your divisor automatically.

How does rounding work?

Dimensions can stay exact, round up or round to the nearest whole unit. Actual and DIM weights are then separately rounded up to the chosen weight step, and the greater is reported.

How does the threshold work?

DIM weight contributes to billing only when the rounded package volume is strictly greater than your threshold. Zero applies it to every package.

Can I compare several packages?

Yes. Add up to 100 CSV rows, each with a name, three dimensions, actual weight and whole-number quantity. Calculations run locally in your browser.
