Using Label & Barcode Designer
Design labels with real barcodes and QR codes and print a whole batch from your data – a free alternative to label software such as BarTender or NiceLabel for small shops, warehouses, offices and makers. Choose an Avery or A4 sheet, a 4 × 6″ shipping label or a Zebra, DYMO or Brother roll, place text, barcodes, QR codes, boxes, lines and your logo, fill them from a CSV or with serial numbers, and download a vector PDF that prints at the exact size.
- Choose your label stock from the list (for example Avery 5160 or L7160), or set a custom sheet or roll size in millimetres.
- Add text, a barcode (Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8, Code 39) or a QR code, and drag them into place; resize with the corner squares.
- Type {{FieldName}} in text, barcodes or QR codes to fill them from your data, or {{n}} for a serial number.
- Open the Data tab to paste or open a CSV from Excel or Google Sheets, or set serial numbers and copies; check the sheet preview and choose the first label position if the sheet is partly used.
- Download the PDF and print at 100% (Actual size) on your label sheets or label printer.
Example
A shop prints 21 price labels on an Avery L7160 sheet from a CSV with Product, Size, Price and EAN columns; each label shows the name, the price and a scannable EAN-13 with its check digit calculated. An office makes 65 asset tags numbered AC-00001 to AC-00065 with a Code 128 barcode and a QR code that links to a support page, starting from label 12 because the sheet was used before.
Questions & answers
Which barcodes can I make?
Code 128 (any text, the most common for shipping and inventory), EAN-13 and UPC-A for retail products, EAN-8 for small packs, Code 39 for older systems, and QR codes. Check digits for EAN and UPC are calculated for you.
Will the barcodes scan?
Yes, they follow the standard encodings. Keep the narrowest bar at about 0.2 mm or wider (the panel warns you), print at 100% scale and leave the white margin around the bars.
Can I print Avery 5160 address labels?
Yes. Choose Avery 5160, paste your addresses as CSV with columns such as Name, Street, City, State and ZIP, and use the Address template. Print the PDF at Actual size.
Do I need real EAN or UPC numbers?
To sell in shops you need numbers licensed from GS1 for your company. For your own inventory or testing you can use any numbers; Code 128 is better for internal labels.
Does it work with Zebra, DYMO or Brother label printers?
Yes. Choose the roll size (for example 4 × 6″, 2.25 × 1.25″, DYMO 30252 or Brother 62 × 29 mm); the PDF has one label per page at that size, which label printer drivers print directly.
How do I skip labels that are already used?
Set Start at label to the first empty position on the sheet; labels are filled from left to right and top to bottom.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The CSV, images and labels are processed in your browser.
