List Separator & Delimiter Workbench
Convert list separators with literal or quoted-field parsing, custom delimiters, empty-item controls and a preview that warns about ambiguous output.
Ready. Explore the example or use the input controls to begin.
Scope and practical limits
Up to 50,000 input characters and 5,000 items. Literal separators are 1–20 characters. Quoted-field mode uses a single-character separator, double-quote escaping and CSV record rules; multiple records flatten in row order. No automatic delimiter guessing.

Using List Separator & Delimiter Workbench
Convert list separators with literal or quoted-field parsing, custom delimiters, empty-item controls and a preview that warns about ambiguous output.
- Enter or import your list and select its actual input format.
- Choose the output format and review item counts, types and validation messages.
- Download the output or a JSON list; save a project to keep your editable settings.
Example
Input: "New York, NY",Paris,,"a""b" With comma and quoted fields, this produces four items, including an empty item and a literal double quote.
Questions & answers
Will commas inside quotes split an item?
Not in quoted-field mode. Literal mode treats every exact separator occurrence as a boundary.
Can custom separators contain several characters?
Yes in literal mode. Quoted mode supports only a single-character delimiter; newline mode treats each CSV row as a single field.
What if a value contains the output separator?
Literal output shows an ambiguity warning. Choose quoted output or download the JSON list to preserve boundaries.
